“In 2021, I was working in a small studio salon with one other person who worked the opposite schedule from mine. I had just had my second son, Eugeen, and since I knew I was done having kids, I wanted to dive deep into my business. I always craved more. I wanted to be in a luxurious, high-end salon where I could provide the best experience for all my guests. I knew I didn't want anything too small or to work in downtown Portland.
At that time, I was certified in five different extension methods and had fallen in love with the art of extensions. But to be honest, I needed support and more time to work on my craft. I was confused, trying to be good at five different methods when I should have been perfecting one.
I didn't know my whole life would change in 2022. I was welcomed by Abigail Lacey to work with her in her very own extension and color luxury salon. Abigail has been the best mentor to me. I have learned so much and have never met someone who has had my back like Abigail. But guess what? I almost said no. I was so scared. I was scared of losing some guests, scared to work in Troutdale, and scared of the possibility that I might not like it. To be honest, I was scared of failing.
With the support of my hubby pushing me to try and see what doors could open for me, and working with like-minded women/mamas who want the same things I want, I decided to jump in with an open heart and mind. They say you become who you surround yourself with, and man, has my life changed all for the better. I am now a licensed Natural Beaded Row Extension artist, a process that usually takes a year, but I got licensed in eight months. I am a Level Three Elle Society Artist and am finally living the work-life balance I so badly needed.
Elle Society is my hair home. My business isn't just thriving; every aspect of my life is in balance: being, business, body. I wouldn’t have changed anything in my life. I would have stayed stuck in a sad story and stayed scared if I didn’t say yes. I've only been given one life, and guess what? I'm going to live it to its fullest and take every chance that comes my way. Scared and all, I jumped once; I can do it again and again.
Everything I prayed and manifested for has come true, and I am living my true best life. I don’t only benefit from living this life, but my boys do too. Because mama feels whole and is living her best life, I’m able to provide the best wholesome life for them as well.”
