This month, we’re spotlighting one of our talented apprentices, Tayler Gaylord, as she moves into the second half of her program. Her journey reflects what’s possible when passion meets purpose inside a supportive, growth-driven salon culture.

What’s been the biggest thing you’ve learned since finishing school and starting the apprenticeship?

“There’s so many things I’ve learned since graduating cosmetology school and starting my apprenticeship. Cosmetology school gave me the basics, but nothing like Elle Society has. I’ve learned how the real world works in the hairstylist industry — business, social media, branding, clientele, and being part of a team.”

What’s surprised you the most about working behind the chair or in a salon environment?

“What’s surprised me the most about being in a salon environment at Elle Society is the professionalism and support. Working and assisting behind the chair is so much more than I expected coming straight from cosmetology school.”

Where have you grown the most so far?

“I’ve grown the most in my confidence, knowledge, and social media skills.”

From technique refinement to mastering online presence, our apprentices gain both creative and strategic tools to succeed. Tayler’s confidence behind the chair — and behind the camera — is proof that the right environment fosters exponential growth.

How has the mentorship and structure at Elle Society helped you learn?

“The structure and mentorship at Elle Society has helped me be my best self and pushed me to learn and ask questions. My program is so organized down to every detail, which I love. I’ve gained so much positive feedback, encouragement, and support from working with the girls at Elle Society.”

Our program is intentionally designed for progress. Each phase is guided by mentorship, education, and real-time feedback so that apprentices can develop confidence, creativity, and consistency before stepping fully into their careers.

What are you most excited for in the second half of your apprenticeship?

“Moving into the second half of my apprenticeship, I’m most excited to take clients after perfecting all of my model looks. I’m especially looking forward to learning extensions — the techniques, placement, and customization.”

At this stage, Tayler is transitioning from observation to transformation — preparing to take color clients after two months of theory and testing. She will soon be elevating her artistry with advanced extension training. Her excitement for learning reflects the heart of what Elle Society stands for: continuous growth and passion for excellence.

If another new stylist asked if they should do this program — what would you tell them?

“Absolutely! I couldn’t have asked for a better salon and team to join. The experience has been incredible. I’ve learned more in these first few months than I ever imagined. The knowledge we get at school has been nothing compared to this program.”
